Gig on the Green - 2016
The Club's annual 'Gig On The Green' music festival was a resounding success on Sunday as fine weather enabled a large crowd to once again enjoy a great afternoon's entertainment at Glenpark.
The event's music coordinator, Kenny Wilson, a well-known member of the local folk duo The Wherries said, "This year's Gig On The Green has without doubt been one of the best ever. The large crowd had a great afternoon and I would like to thank all the musicians for providing such top class entertainment."
The Club's President, Peter Robertson, said, "Once again it's been a fantastic event. My thanks to all the musicians, the big crowd who came along and enjoyed themselves, the small army of staff and volunteer helpers and, of course, to Kenny Wilson who was the key figure in making us all have such an enjoyable time."
The big crowd who went along to Glenpark for this year's Gig heard music from a wide range of bands including The Drams, The Garlands, The Urban Folkers, The Allies, Flung Aboot, The Sinsheimers, Broomberry Drive, Artistic Licence and The Fogartys, as well as solo singers Rebekah and Shelagh McKay Jones and also duos Grassyk, Calum & Donny and Jack & Luke. DJ Calum Rennie introduced the bands and singers and, following tradition, the afternoon's entertainment was brought to a fun-filled ending by The Wherries.
