Under-11s maintain their winning run
Greenock Under-11 XI v Poloc Under-11 XI
With Poloc batting first Greenock were keen to take some early wickets but a wee flurry of fielding opportunities were narrowly missed. A steady first 5 over spell had Poloc on 20 runs for no loss.
A series of wickets against the next pair, including two for Stephen Gallagher (2 for 4) and a great catch at square leg from Jonny Murray (2 for 7) to give Tom Forrest (2 for 7) his first competitive wicket steadied the nerves.
Having taken a wicket in the 7th over, Harry Briggs continued to bowl very well finishing on 4 for 10 including a great catch off his own bowling.
Denied wickets in the first couple of overs, David McQuat got his just rewards to finish the bowling attack with 3 for 7. With extras of 33 contributing to their total Poloc finished on 267 for 13 (Net 202).
With not a big total to chase it was important for Greenock to play sensibly without giving away too many wickets. This they did.
Opener Harry Briggs was supported well by Stephen Gallagher giving Greenock the solid start they needed with Harry posting an impressive 26 including the first six of the evening.
Stefan Armstrong looked very solid with a couple of big sixes and was keenly supported by young Tom Forrest who ran very well. The pair added a further 32 to the total with Stefan finishing on 20.
David McQuat and Matthew Irwin batted overs 11 to 15 and they too worked well together finishing with a partnership of 35 for no loss. With 5 boundaries, David batted very nicely finishing on a total of 27.
The best partnership of the match fell just short of 50 with Jack Currie and Jonny Murray batting very solidly together, Jack notching up 7 boundaries for a total of 31.
This Under-11 team look quite a promising prospect as they notched up their third successive win of the season, finishing on 350 for 2 (Net 340)
