Glenpark XI facing major player availability problem
This Saturday's opening Glenaprk XI competitive match of the season against Cambusdoon at Ayr in the Western Cup is giving Club selectors a headache as a huge number of availability issues have emerged.
The failure of both professional Mpho Sekhoto and overseas amateur Craig Schlebusch to have their visas processed in time to arrive this weekend has necessitated two players who would have played for the team to move up to the 1st XI. A hand injury suffered by Phil McIntosh against Kelburne on the first weekend of the season requires a third Glenpark XI player to be elevated to the team to play Carlton in the Scottish Cup.
The team selection is further compounded by the following list: Reiss Armstrong (calf injury - out for another 2 weeks), Peter Robertson (hamstring injury), Chris Hempsey (Work), Kevin Flack (Work), Neil Flack (SQA exams), Kieran Begley (work), Stuart Anderson (SQA exams), Duncan Godsman (University exams), Fraser Godsman (SQA exams), John MacNab (work), Jamie McDowell (work), Sehmat Singh (University exams), Ben Peterson (hockey in Holland), Dougie Moore (work), Kenny Diffenthal (rugby sevens).
The net result is that the side which turns up at Ayr to play against Cambusdoon will be a shadow of the team which it had been hoped would be available. The players who do make the journey will do so to fulfill the fixture and anything more than that is likely to be a bonus.
