Kiwi Colson joins Greenock
Former New Zealand Under-19 batsman, Fraser Colson, will join Australian Tom Batters in playing for Greenock this summer.
Colson (23) was a schoolboy prodigy who represented Wellington through the age-groups and was an integral member of the New Zealand Under-19 tour to England and ICC World Cup campaigns in 2008.
The right-hand batsman set a run-scoring record (2,406) for his Hutt International Boys' School 1st XI, hitting four centuries with an average upwards of 60 during his final school year. He then scored 396 runs at 49.50 for Wellington at the National Provincial Under-19 Tournament which resulted in himbeing selected for the national squad.
Fraser batted at second wicket down during the World Cup and averaged 26.40 and during his 12 matches for the Under-19s, he played alongside current Blackcaps Kane Williamson, Doug Bracewell, Jimmy Neesham, Corey Anderson and Trent Boult.
Since 2008, he has been a regular member of the Wellington Under-23s and 'A' sides, whilst gaining inclusion to the Firebirds squad a few years ago.
He has since played Premier club cricket for Hutt Valley, the side he skippered in the recent New Zealand summer where he averaged 30.86 in Wellington’s top flight club competition.
