Gig on the Green 2015

The annual Gig On The Green music festival is now less than a week away.

The festival, which has been running for more than thirteen years, will take place on Sunday 6 September at its home venue, Glenpark.

Main music organiser for The Gig, and well known local musician, Kenny Wilson has now completed what is a very impressive line-up of bands and singers for the event which will run from 1pm until 7.30pm.

Returning by popular demand are bands such as Life on Standby, Ten Gallon Bratz, Gratefully Not Dead and of course, The Wherries.

And, as always, a number of new bands are making their debut at this year's festival.

The Urban Folkers are a four-piece, mainly acoustic group mixing rock, pop, country, folk and other styles. Their varied live set includes a selection of self-penned songs and all-acoustic cover versions ranging from classic artists such as The Byrds, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Blondie, to the current sounds of The Stereophonics, KT Tunstall, Pink and Lady Gaga to name a few.

Kendal Paterson on vocals, John McLeister on lead guitar, Jonny Emerson on guitar and vocals, Mark Tait on Bass and vocals, and Andy McAlees on drums and vocals make up the group.

New also to the Gig on the Green line-up this year are Tinbox, Flung Aboot, Providence, Grasky and Rebekah.

Others who will provide a brilliant afternoon of music at The Gig are Argyllshire's female duo Angel's Share, well known west of Scotland band The Drams, solo singer Megan, and young, all girl rock band Beautiful Expectations.

Completing the acts appearing at The Gig will be former Megastars finalists duo Jack and Luke, while DJ Calum Rennie returns once again to keep the afternoon's entertainment in full swing.
