Gig on the Green 2016

The annual Gig On The Green music festival is getting geared up once again for its afternoon of music in early September.

The festival, which has become one of Inverclyde's most popular outdoor music occasions, will take place this year on Sunday 4 September.

The main music organiser for The Gig, and well known local musician, Kenny Wilson, has already signed up a number of excellent bands and acts and, due to popular demand, back again are the local folk rockers The Drams and teenage singer /songwriter Rebekah who won Best Emerging Talent in the Recording Festival 2015 International songwriting competition.

Also back are ceilidh and covers band Flung Aboot and to get everyone dancing around, Glasgow-based five piece band Artistic License.

Newcomers to Gig On The Green are Shelagh Mackay Jones, who has taken part in the annual Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow and The Garlands.

A number of other bands are in the pipeline and Kenny hopes to be able to confirm these very shortly. Meanwhile, of course, his own band, the ever popular The Wherries, will be on the line-up to entertain the crowds with their traditional end of festival music and humour.

Mark the date in your diaries, it is not to be missed  - Sunday 4 September for Gig On The Green 2016
