The 1st XI lost by four wickets to second top Renfrew at Glenpark on Saturday. It was a match with nothing at stake for the team who occupy a middle of the table position. But the win for Renfrew keeps them on track for promotion to the Western Premiership One and a possibility of snatching the title from West of Scotland.

A significantly depleted side gave a good account of themselves and with a full-strength side may well have won the match.

Batting first, the team had the innings of regular Gleanpark XI player Usman Mansoor to thank as he held together the home innings for 41 overs and scored 48 runs. His innings was one of great concentration, and considerable batting skill, and was the mainstay of the team's eventual total of 169 for the loss of 9 wickets. Cal Henry with 23 runs, Jonathan Hempsey 19 and Greg McDougall 15 were other batters who got into double figures.

In reply, Renfrew were made to work hard for their win despite a number of the normal front line bowlers being unavailable.

Only visiting team captain Hussanain Haider made it to 30 runs while a number of others scored double figures as Renfrew scored 172 and passed the 1st XI's score having lost 6 wickets.

For the home attack, it was another Glenpark XI regular, Kurakulasuriya Leema, who gained the best bowling figures with 2 wickets for 28 runs from 4 overs while Sehmat Pandher also collected 2 for 37 from 10 overs.
