Season ends in anti-climax but Glenpark clinch title

The last Saturday of the 2025 league cricket season ended in an almost complete washout across the west of Scotland. Both matches involving the senior Greenock elevens were cancelled on Saturday morning as the wet weather approached.

For the 1st XI and opponents Langside there was neither promotion nor relegation at stake had the match taken place but for the Glenpark XI (featured above) the cancellation merely confirmed that the team were the winners of the Western Championship Three division.

Although in general terms many might say that the summer has been a good one, for those involved with the game of cricket, it has been a disappointing one. Eight Saturdays out of 18 were lost by numerous clubs, including Greenock, due to wet weather.

But while the weather may have been disappointing, it has nevertheless been a successful one for the Club. The 1st XI won the Cricket Scotland Challenge Cup and were quarter-finalists in the McCulloch Cup while as already stated the Glenpark XI won their title and promotion to Championship Two.
