The 1st XI's league match against West of Scotland at Hamilton Crescent in Glasgow was brought to a premature end when rain halted play about two thirds of the way through the home side's innings. It was another disappointing Saturday with wet weather the winner.

Skipper Aryan Sanghera won the toss and inserted West. The decision was quickly rewarded when opening bowlers Cammy Calder and Fahimgul Dinarkheil reduced West to 36 for 4.

Calder, in particular, was in fine form capturing the wickets of the first three batsmen in the West order, while Dinarkheil clean bowled Zimbabwean professional Larbet Masunda. Not one of these first four batsmen scored into double figures.

But West's strength in depth in batting showed when John Oliver and Junaid Malik compiled a partnership of 88 runs for the fifth wicket. It was broken in the middle of the 33rd over when Dinarkheil, brought back into the bowling attack for a second spell, had Oliver caught by wicket-keeper Cal Henry for 47.

Only a further nine balls were able to be bowled before rain set in and eventually led to the match being abandoned with West on 141 for 5.

Cammy Calder returned bowling figures of 3 wickets for 27 while Fahim Dinarkheil took 2 for 40, both from their full allocation of 10 overs.
