Glenpark 1st XI v Clydesdale Bees
Western Championship Three
Saturday 23rd August 2025
Clydesdale Bees 144 H Sher 62; R Kumar 7 for 22
Glenpark XI 145 for 4 U Mansoor 55
Glenpark XI (25 pts) defeated Clydesdale Bees (1 pt) by 6 wickets
The Glenpark XI brushed aside Clydesdale Bees at Glenpark on Saturday afternoon with a fine six wicket win. The Glasgow side and Mearns Challengers have been the teams vying with Glenpark for the Championship Three title all season.
Now, only Mearns Challengers can pip Glenpark on the last Saturday of the season. But the local side need only one point out of 25 next Saturday when they play Kirkstyle at the Scott Ellis Playing Fields, Kilmarnock.
Batting first on Saturday afternoon, Clydesdale Bees looked likely to score a large total when the first wicket produced a century stand between Mohammed Tariq and Haroon Sher. But the terrific start to the innings was wasted as the Glasgow side collapsed to 144 all out.
The rot began when Rakesh Kumar had Tariq caught for 26 with the score on exactly 100. And shortly after that dismissal, it was Kumar once again who removed the free scoring Haroon Sher for 62.
Thereafter the wickets fell quickly, and many of these were due to Kumar who was enjoying a purple patch of bowling. He collected a total of 7 wickets for just 22 runs as the Clydesdale batting line-up disintegrated.
In reply, Glenpark lost Moiz Mansoor with the total on 27 when he was LBW to Ramamurthy in the eighth over.
But the side was not derailed by his loss and the innings progressed at good pace towards the winning target. Opening bat Usman Mansoor led the way scoring a fine half century before being dismissed for 55.
The winning run was scored early in the 31st over by Mohammad Zeeshan (5 not out) while his batting partner Zabi Dilsoz was unbeaten on 20.
With one league match remaining and just one point out of twenty five needed, the Championship Three title is surely destined for Glenpark next Saturday.
