Turf work pays off

A number of spirited volunteers put in some six hours of back-breaking work on Sunday 28th May to lay down offcuts of Astroturf, which had been provided by Charlie Stewart, around the all-weather practice area.

The above photo shows the end result of all that hard work. What has been done nicely compliments the new cricket matting in the nets which was provided by the McGarva family through the AM Ross Foundation and also enhances the refurbishment of the Pavilion, which has been carried out courtesy of Paddy Bryceland. It will now become a much more pleasant walk to the Pavilion when conditions are wet, which is important to the Club as it seeks to open out use of the Pavilion to outside groups.

The work was extremely hard as Astroturf is very heavy and not easy to manoeuvre and the Club is very grateful to the following volunteers who gave so willingly of their time and effort.

Peter Hempsey, Peter Robertson, Peter Allwood, Jimmy Lepick, Iain Scott, Alec Wooler, Colin McCahill, Allan Irvine, Stevie McDaid, Jamie McLean, Greg McDougall, Colin McDougall and our Groundsman Stuart MacLean.
