Cricket Club to auction original Kelsey painting

The Club is holding its 150th Anniversary Season Dinner Dance in the Greenock Town Hall on the evening of 17th March. Over 200 guests will be attending and during the course of the evening a specially commissioned original oil painting of a cricket scene at Glenpark by top Scottish artist Robert Kelsey will be up for auction.

Kelsey, who is currently the President of the highly prestigious Glasgow Art Club, has developed a top reputation for his paintings of the coastal landscapes of Western Scotland and its adjacent islands. He also paints various locations in the Mediterranean as well as Suffolk and Cornwall in the UK.

President of the Club, Peter Hempsey said, "We decided to approach Robert Kelsey regarding a very special commission to link in with our 150th Anniversary celebration and I am delighted to say that he agreed to take on our project. The result is a fantastic original oil painting of cricket being played at Glenpark which I feel sure will be of considerable interest. Whoever is fortunate to win the bidding for the Kelsey on Saturday evening will have made a very good investment and at the same time supported Club funds."

Robert Kelsey's paintings are highly sought after and will usually sell for upwards of £3500 when on sale at a Gallery exhibition. Robert has just opened a new exhibition of over forty paintings in London with prices ranging from £3500 to over £10,000. It is his twenty first exhibition, having exhibited in a number of cities around the world as well as in various locations in the UK. His list of collectors include Sir Arnold Clark, Turnberry Hotel, Credit Lyonnais Bank, the Duke of Bedford, Highland Spring, Lord MacFarlane of Bearsden. He has also appeared on BBC Breakfast and News 24. He was made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) in 2009. For more information, visit his website, www.rkelsey.com.
