Greenock XI 105
Hillhead 106 for 3 S Chaudry 42*

Hillhead, who provided Sunday afternoon opposition for a friendly match at Glenpark, were too strong for a Greenock side which showed six changes from the team which played against Kelburne on Saturday.

Batting first, Greenock made a bright start scoring 16 runs from the first two overs of the game, but the wicket of Phil McIntosh bowled by Vadan for 11 in the third over, signalled a change of direction in the match. By the eighth over Greenock had lost two further wickets and only progressed to 31 and when captain Ryan Begley lofted Ahmed towards the long off boundary only to be caught well short of the rope for 25 with the total on 56 for the loss of six wickets, the Glenpark side were deep in trouble.

Kevin Flack with 22 and Waleed Jamaal 16 provided some much needed runs in the latter stage of the innings to take the total to 105 before the last wicket fell.

Hillhead were rarely in any difficulty as they chased down Greenock’s meagre total. There was an early alarm for the Glasgow side when Jamaal clean bowled Mudalice for 2 in the fifth over, but that apart, this was a fairly easy win for Hillhead, whose professional Sachin Chaudry batted effortlessly in compiling an unbeaten 42 which contained seven boundaries.

Mark Robertson picked up 2 wickets for 32 runs from six overs, having Alum stumped by Chris Hempsey for 16 and clean bowling Burns for 24.
