Scorecard

Greenock crashed out of the Scottish Cup on Sunday afternoon to Drumpellier at their Langloan ground in Coatbridge, losing by 47 runs following a poor batting display.

It had all seemed to be going well in the first half of the match as Drumpellier were dismissed for 129. Only the Lanarkshire side's two overseas players scored any meaningful runs with South Africans Hayden Sweet 51 not out and Zander Erasmus 50. Number eleven bat Ryan McShane was next highest scorer with just five runs to his name.

Sam Sanghera took 6 wickets for 24 runs from his ten overs and Kyle Scrimegour 3 for 28.

An injury while fielding led to in-form batsman Neil Flack dropping down the Greenock batting order and Harry Briggs opened with Kyle Scrimegour.

Briggs was out in just the fourth over with the score on seven and shortly afterwards Scrimegour was rather surprisingly given out LBW as he played a legside ball from opening bowler Bill Leslie.

Greenock just never recovered from this poor start and wickets tumbled as the Glenpark line-up just could not build any partnerships.

Neil Flack did come in to bat at the fall of the sixth wicket and scored 18 before being caught on the mid-wicket boundary, but by then the die appeared cast and only Jonathan Hempsey with fourteen runs and Sam Sanghera with eleven runs reached double figures in the closing stages of the match.

It was an innings to forget for Greenock and the chance to play top Edinburgh side Grange at Glenpark in the Scottish Cup quarter final was lost as a result.
