After a three-week gap, Glenpark were delighted to complete a match this Saturday, given the forecast - and even more delighted to come away with a deserved win.

Having chosen to bat first, skipper Eddie Ahmad opened with himself and second-in-command Sudeep Chaudhary. They got the home team off to an excellent start with a half-century stand, but there were then three quick wickets, with Eddie, Chris Hempsey and Liam McCahill falling in quick succession.

Dave Sharma then joined Sudeep to steady the ship. The pair made steady progress and Sudeep look set to complete a well-earned fifty, but unfortunately missed a swinging delivery that hit his pads and left him a couple short.

Dave fell soon after, leaving Nagendra Nagaraju to expertly shepherd the tail. Mini partnerships progressed the score and, after Nagendra fell, Muhib Ahmadzai hit a couple of lusty blows to ensure the visitors would need over 4-an-over to win the match.

Dave Sharma and Emily Norris opened the bowling in the second half and started well with three maidens, already putting Galloway under pressure. Things got even better when Dave removed one of the openers, and Hamid Safi's speed in the field forced a run out.

Quick thinking by Chris achieved another run out when a batsman carelessly left his crease, and another wicket to Dave via a fine catch by Liam (which he says will not be repeated!), left the visitors reeling on 15 for 4. There then came a rain break, which thankfully didn't last long.

On resumption Dave and Emily continued to bowl tidily and, by the twenty overs bowled mark needed for a valid result, Galloway were well behind their required rate should the rain return. Thankfully it held off as change bowlers Eddie, Naga and Sahil Safi all had success. Hamid and Muhib also bowled with good pace, but were unable to break through as the seventh wicket pair put up some resistance.

A comfortable win for Glenpark then, though again some concern about the number of wides - which would have been much worse were it not for some diving heroics from Chris behind the stumps. They will need to improve on this to have success against tougher opposition when Anniesland visit next Saturday.
