The 1st XI travel to Edinburgh on Saturday to take on Grange in the Scottish Cup knowing that anything less than a victory is likely to make qualification to the knock-out stages of the Cup or SCU Trophy impossible. Again without Richie Berrington, who is still on international duty in Aberdeen, the team will take on an unfamiliar looking Grange side that is placing the premium on promising young players. Greenock will need to play at their very best if they are to entertain any hope of victory. The match starts at noon.

The Glenpark XI will be looking to bounce back from last week's embarrassing defeat to Deanpark when they take on Helensburgh at Glenpark in a Western Cup sectional tie. Whether they can do will depend greatly on what sort of side they can put on the park but holidays and injuries are likely to affect selection for a match against strong opponents. More accurate bowling would also help after last week's 60 wides. The match will start at 1pm.

The Hillend XI have no game this Sunday. However, the 1st XI are on duty, away to Drumpellier in the CSL40 Cup where the winner will progress to the semi-finals of the competition. The game will start at 1.00pm. Drumpellier are having one of their best seasons for many years, contending in the league and cups and they will be difficult opponents to overcome. Much will depend on the strength of the teams that both sides will field, as both are likely to be missing key players.

Greenock kept alive their hopes of qualifying for the knock-out-stages of the West League Cup when they easily defeated Kelburne by 54 runs. Batting first, they scored 169 for 4 with Fraser Colson maintaining his good form with a terrific 87 and Chris Hempsey undefeated on 62. Kelburne could only manage 115 for 7 in reply with Tom Batters taking 4 for 10. Ex-Greenock player, Dougie Wylie top-scored for the visitors with 31.

Gig on the Green takes place this year on the afternoon and evening of Sunday 15 September at Glenpark and the line up of bands and acts is now close to being finalised. There will also be a number of other attractions and stalls plus, of course, bar facilities to take the interest of those attending.

Junior Cricket Coaching has started at Glenpark. Coaching is for boys and girls from the age of 8 years to 15 years. Newcomers and those wishing to try cricket for the first time are very welcome. Coaching is every Wednesday* from 6pm to 7.30pm with all equipment supplied by the Club.

Would parents please ensure they attend to complete the necessary registration process which covers child safeguarding procedures.

The 1st XI lost the first of their reverse Scottish Cup sectional qualifying matches to Premier Division Renfrew by a tantalising 3 runs as they just failed to overtake the home side's score of 193. Tom Batters took 4 for 37 and Jonathan Hempsey 3 for 24 in Renfrew's innings whilst Fraser Colson again top-scored in Greenock's reply with 58, Chris Hempsey contributed 39 and Greg McDougall hit a brave 31 at the end. This defeat means that Renfrew have gone ahead of Greenock in the race to finish second in their qualifying group, Eastern Premier Division side Grange being in pole position to qualify in first place. The less said about the Glenpark XI's game against Deanpark the better with the opposition scoring 317 for 3 in their 40 overs and then dismissing Glenpark for just 111 runs to record a massive 206 run victory. Dave Sharma did manage to score 44 in the Glenpark reply but perhaps diplomatically he has relegated the reporting duties to Peter Hempsey.

The Hillend XI lost their Sunday League game at Irvine on Sunday by 94 runs but hit by a couple of late call-offs and wiht a very young team playing in some very difficult conditions at times, they are to be commended for sticking it out. Irvine scored 167 for 8 in their knock and Hillend replied with 73, of which Neil Flack scored 27. Captain Kevin Flack has compiled a report on the game in which he states shows that the future is looking bright for the club as a very young team competed hard in tricky conditions.

The latest monthly draw for the Glenpark Supporters Prize Draw was made on Saturday 29th June by Ryan Murray of Renfrew Cricket Club and the four lucky winners were Jack Thomson, Gordon McQuat, David Glancy and Jim McDonald.

The next monthly draw will take place on Saturday 27th July 2013 for the usual prizes.

Yet another rainy Saturday but on this occasion and after some sterling work by the groundstaff, the 1st XI's game against Stenhousemuir went ahead. The visitors batted first and scored an impressive 158 for 4 off 25 overs. Because this innings had been interrupted by rain, Duckworth-Lewis was called into play and the total was upgraded to 173. Greenock made a sterling attempt at reaching this difficult target in their 25 overs but came up short by just 8 runs, despite 77 from Alex Baum and 31 from Fraser Colson. Peter Hempsey's match report describes the action in a match where Greenock scored more runs than their opponents but lost!

The Glenpark XI's game with The Tryst was called off as a result of the rains that fell during the day.

The Hillend XI won their first game of the season but in the most unsatisfactory way as their opponents East Kilbride called off on Sunday morning when they were unable to find eleven guys/gals to make up a team.

On a lovely sunny evening at Glenpark, Ferguslie were too strong for Greenock in their latest sectional game in the West League Cup, winning by 7 wickets. Greenock will rue the fact that having reached 96 for 1 after 13 overs, they were only able to reach 130 for 9 by the end of their innings. Chris Hempsey with 54 and Fraser Colson with 38 were the main contributors. In reply, Ferguslie always seemed to be in control and eventually ran out comfortable winners, scoring 134 for 3 in the 18th over. Greenock now have a record of 2 wins and 2 defeats in their group with another 2 games still to be played.

Both the 1st XI and Glenpark XI games were casualties of today's rains. The Glenpark XI game was called off quite early but with the whole square covered, there were hopes that the 1st XI's match at Glenpark would go ahead, albeit in a shortened form. However, continuing bursts of rain eventually ruled out any possibility of play.

The weather improved dramatically on Sunday and the 1st XI recorded a first win in the CSL40 Cup when they defeated Kelburne by 5 wickets at Whitehaugh. Waleed Jamal took 5 for 23 as Kelburne were dismissed for 127. In reply, Greenock reached their target for the loss of 5 wickets with Fraser Colson undefeated on 79. Senior outdoor training at Glenpark will commence on Tuesday 9th April at 6pm and will continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the rest of the season.

Members will be greatly saddened to hear of the death of Fred Haw earlier today. Fred, who joined the club in 1971 from Poloc, was a much-loved and respected President (1991-92), Treasurer, captain (2nd XI), player (1st XI and 2nd XI) and whole-hearted supporter of the Club and will be sadly missed by his many friends. Glenpark is a poorer place for his passing.

Friday 8th February saw an informal evening at Glenpark to honour Richie Berrington for two achievements in 2012, gaining his 100th Scottish cap and becoming the first UK batsman to hit an international T20 century.
